Claude Baker

Claude Baker attained his doctoral degree from Eastman, where his principal composition teachers were Samuel Adler and Warren Benson.  As a composer, Baker has received numerous professional honors, including an award from the American Academy of Arts and Letters; two Kennedy Center Friedheim Awards; a “Manuel de Falla” Prize (Madrid); and commissions from the Koussevitzky and Fromm Foundations, the Barlow Endowment, and Meet the Composer. His works have been performed by elite orchestras and ensembles throughout North America and Europe.  Claude Baker is Professor Emeritus of Composition at Indiana University.
