The second book in the series, these studies are meant, in general, for the student who wants to develop greater fluency through legato playing, in many keys, in the middle and low registers.  Only guidelines in tempo and dynamic markings have been chosen by the editor.  The student is encouraged to treat these exercises with as much freedom as is needed for a musical interpretation.
