CANTIQUE AND FARANADE was commissioned in the Spring of 1966 by the Arkansas School Band and Orchestra Association under its president, C. Bonner Ruff, and Executive Secretary, J. Raymond Brandon.  It was premiered by the Arkansas All-State Band in the Spring of 1967.
